KSU Alumni Association Student Engagement Committee Competition Team Funding Information for FY 25 

  • Application opens for students (Wednesday, September 18th)

  • Application closes for students (Friday, October 11th @ 12:00 pm)

  • Student Competition Teams notified of their presentation slot (Monday, October 14th)

  • Award letters emailed out to teams (October 28th, 2024)

Competition Team Guidelines

  • Teams must meet all of these criteria in order to be considered for funding:

    • Team must be a fully registered RSO (Registered Student Organization)
    • The team鈥檚 primary organizational purpose is to compete in intercollegiate competition against other colleges and universities.
    • The team represents 网红头条 (as opposed to a third party or the team itself) at competitions in which they compete.
    • The team is the sole team representing 网红头条 at competitions in which they compete.
    • The competition(s) in which the team competes must be sponsored by a regionally- or nationally-recognized professional organization, an academic entity, or an organization that exists for the advancement of technical knowledge.
    • The competition(s) in which the team competes must relate to the academic mission of KSU and participation in the competition must advance the student participant鈥檚 academic knowledge (i.e. not athletic or performing arts in nature).
    • The team must be affiliated with an academic department and have a faculty/staff advisor.
  • The Student Outreach Committee will consider the following points when making allocations:

    • Quality of presentation
    • Performance in previous competitions
    • Dollars requested as compared to other funding sources and funding amount(s) from previous year(s)
    • Demonstrated organizational fitness of the student organization (e.g. number of involved members, efforts to transfer knowledge between officers, plan for recruitment/retention of new members)
    • Exhibited fiscal responsibility (including awareness of current account balances).
    • Presence of a faculty/staff advisor.
  • Presentations must follow all these guidelines:

    • Teams must RSVP that they plan to attend the presentation (using link provided in confirmation email).
    • Teams will have 5 minutes each to present their competition funding request and 5 minutes to answer questions from the committee.
    • Faculty advisors should not represent the team but should be present to assist and answer any questions.
    • Only pre-submitted presentations (e.g. PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) can be used. Student Activities staff will run the presentation slides for the RSO. 
      Presentations should include information on the following areas:
      • The organization: how is the RSO is structured, how the organization recruits and retains members, the number of active members, past competitions, and results; RSO transition plans, etc.
      • The competition: what it requires, how it is organized, and how the team plans to approach the project.
      • The budget: current dollars in account, costs of upcoming competition(s) and what is needed to assist you getting to the competition(s).
    • Teams should expect to answer questions from the audience regarding their competition, their requested budget, and how they plan to spend the remaining funds currently in their account.
    • Teams that do not attend their presentation in the designated time slot may not receive funding.
