CSM Outreach and Community Engagement

The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) at 网红头条 is dedicated to reaching out, connecting, and making a positive impact in our community and beyond. Our community engagement and outreach initiatives are designed to engage, inspire, and empower individuals from all walks of life. Whether you're looking to lend a helping hand, learn something new, or simply connect with others who share your passions, you've come to the right place.   • The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) is hosting two blood drives in collaboration with the on the following dates:

    • September 19, 2024 (Kennesaw campus, Student Center University Rooms)
    • September 24, 2024 (Marietta campus, Event Center).
  • CSM/KSU is a proud partner and silver level sponsor of The Atlanta Science Festival (ASF). ASF is an annual public celebration of local science and technology. Curious people of all ages will explore the science and technology in our region and see how science is connected to all parts of our lives.     • March 9-23, 2024
  • Science Olympiad is an annual 网红头条 (KSU) event co-hosted by the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Architecture and Construction Management. It is a national competition for middle school and high school students. For more information about Science Olympiad at KSU, please visit website.

  • Since 2006, KSU Mathematics Competition is an annual competition for Georgia high school students, both public and private, sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), and 网红头条 (KSU).   • In February 2024, The College of Science and Mathematics was proud to be a platinum level sponsor for the Cobb Innovation & Technology Academy (CITA) "Future Fest" Career Festival. For more information, please visit the .
  • SPSU was instrumental in the development of Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center () in 1989, which is located on the Kennesaw campus, and holds workshops to expose 4th & 5th grade students to biology in rural GA. A representative from the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) has served in an advisory role for this organization for many years.

    The state GYSTC, Inc. Board of Directors is a cooperating partner with Kennesaw State University and shares the responsibility of the overall direction of the organization and for helping to secure and provide resources to support the programs.

    • SCM2000 students are partnering with the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land to use science and mathematics to enhance soil and water quality in a community garden and studying park usage patterns. This relationship was established in 2022 and is ongoing.
    • (February 2024) - High School Anatomy Competition
    • CPR Training - Since 2023, Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology (EEOB) faculty have been periodically holding sessions to teach Hands only CPR to the broader KSU community so that people are trained to try to save lives in emergency cardiac arrest situations.
    • Woodstock High School STEMposium - The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) Faculty have participated in the 2023-2024 Woodstock High School STEMposium, a lecture series for high school STEM students.
    • Regional High School and Middle School Science Bowl -  Hosted by CSM and sponsored by the US Department of Energy (). CSM has been involved with this for 20 years.
    • Boy Scouts of America - The Department of Physics hosts the following events in collaboration with Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America (Atlanta Area Council | Boy Scouts of America (atlantabsa.org)): Boy Scouts Nuclear Merit Badge Workshop (fall) and Boy Scouts Spring STEM Summit (spring)
    • Georgia Academic Decathlon (Georgia Academic Decathlon (pageinc.org)). CSM is involved in the PAGE (Professional Association of Georgia Educators) Georgia Academic Decathlon. It is primarily hosted by the Bagwell College of Education at KSU.
