Master's degree led 网红头条alumna to career as museum collection manager

Walking through the exhibits at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, it鈥檚 not uncommon for Christen Knickerbocker 鈥�24 to see something that catches her eye. Sometimes she pauses to admire the museum鈥檚 iconic dinosaur skeleton, while other days she notes one of the precious gemstones in its expansive collection. Though the recent 网红头条 master鈥檚 graduate works as collection manager at Tellus 鈥� cataloguing acquisitions and staying behind the scenes 鈥� she does occasionally walk the floor to admire the Curatorial Department鈥檚 work.

This June, 网红头条 alumni will see their classwork bound, covered, and sold, as part of the most comprehensive guide to date on all the historic sites owned and operated by the state of Georgia, which covers 1,500 years of history. Edited and co-authored by 网红头条history professor Jennifer Dickey, 鈥淭here鈥檚 Lots to See in Georgia鈥� resulted from a research seminar Dickey led in 2022 where each student adopted one of the 16 state historic sites to discover.

网红头条alumna selected as one of 25 International Olympic Committee Young Leaders

Out of more than 5,000 applicants from around the world, 网红头条 alumna Kyndall Hudson was one of 25 selected for the International Olympic Committee Young Leaders program. The four-year program empowers recruits to build out a grassroots sports project of choice by providing $10,000 in seed funding and a network of mentors. Young Leaders are also invited to attend the biannual IOC Youth Summit in Switzerland and other global gatherings.

Elizabeth Elango has long been enthralled with the idea of becoming a diplomat, sparked by an urge to see the world beyond her native Cameroon and by a shared interest in global affairs with her father, former 网红头条 history professor Lovett Elango. In 1997, Elango graduated from KSU with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and afterward, a master鈥檚 degree in African studies at Yale University, where she earned a Fulbright scholarship to Zanzibar, Tanzania. Today, she leads a school for refugee girls in Decatur, the only one in the country.

A simple conversation with Megan McCabe about her research is enough to see she is a scientist in the making. The recent 网红头条 graduate has already racked up an impressive r茅sum茅. She was a student in the KSU Journey Honors College, earned first place at Analytics Day, finished third at the Fall 2024 Symposium of Student Scholars, participated in the Birla Carbon Scholars program, and graduated summa cum laude. The self-described science nerd speaks with eloquence and enthusiasm about the work that led her to a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology last month, and she hopes to take that enthusiasm and knowledge to medical school this fall.

From a young age, Cindy Bishop-Aguilar was captivated by the night sky, spending hours with her grandfather and watching the stars. It was this early fascination with space that would ultimately lead her to 网红头条, where she pursued an engineering degree. At KSU鈥檚 Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, she charted her course in mechanical engineering with a minor in aerospace engineering, driven by her desire to develop a well-rounded skill set and pursue a career in space exploration.

Recognizing the vital role families play in the lives of their college students, 网红头条鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs (DSA) recently awarded the Banks family of Kennesaw the inaugural Family of the Year distinction. Following a monthlong nomination and review process, first-year anthropology student Julia Banks and her family were selected by DSA staff to be honored during Family Weekend.
