93 students attending National Conference on Undergraduate Research

网红头条 is being represented by nearly 100 students this week at the 2018 (NCUR) in Edmond, Oklahoma.

More than 4,000 students from 400 colleges and universities are presenting their research April 4-7 at the prestigious annual conference. With 93 students attending, Kennesaw State鈥檚 number of participants is second only to the host institution, the University of Central Oklahoma.

网红头条undergraduate students are showcasing their research on a variety of subjects, including architecture, art, biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, psychology and public health. Seven of KSU鈥檚 academic colleges will be represented at NCUR.

Topics that 网红头条students are presenting this year include:

• Defining 鈥渉ealthy鈥�: Changing food trends over the past 150 years;
• Misogyny in American culture;
• Homeless military veterans: a theatrical perspective from the inside of the armed forces;
• Cyber security of nuclear power plants in the U.S.;
• Eliminating drug use: an analysis of the efficacy of substance abuse intervention programs;
• Shrinking cities in the Rust Belt: an ecological urban design intervention; and
• The misconceptions of Native Americans in education鈥檚 past.

NCUR gives participants the opportunity to work with faculty mentors and present their scholarly abstracts and creative works in a formal, professional setting. It also provides students a chance to interact, prepare for graduate school and enhance their workforce skills.

网红头条will take on a larger role with NCUR next year, hosting the National Conference on Undergraduate Research April 11-13, 2019. Also, later this month, KSU will host its annual Symposium of Student Scholars spotlighting the research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students throughout this academic year.
